Thank you for visiting my web site. My name is Rajan Narayanaswamy and I live in Central New Jersey, USA. I have been teaching yoga since 10 years now. Teaching yoga has been,
to me, a most rewarding and revealing experience. Until I started teaching yoga, I myself did not know how much people can
benefit from yoga although I have been practicing yoga since 15 years myself. So in a way my students have been my greatest
teachers and I am ever grateful to them for giving me this opportunity.
In my high school years I got an opportunity to see a demonstration by a great yogi in the holy city of Varanasi. He could stop a car with a rope held in his teeth. He lay down supine on peices of broken glass and a truck was driven over him but he didn't even have a scratch on his back. He could even stop his pulse. This incident sparked my interest in yoga and since then I pursued yoga with enthusiasm. After many years of learning yoga, one day it dawned upon me that my initial motivation for learning yoga was all wrong. Yoga was not about acrobatics and attaining great powers. It was about happiness.
I have been trained under the traditional system of yoga from India. When in India I attended many yoga classes
in several institutions. In the USA, I formally attended yoga classes at the
High Tech Yoga Institute at Lowell, MA under
the guidance of the respectable Dr.V.S. Rao a great teacher of yoga and an enlightened master. I will be ever grateful for
his benevolent and gentle guidance.
The core of my method of teaching yoga is based on an approach which combines mind, body, breath and deep relaxation
techniques like Yoga Nidra.
It takes some time for students to realize the true mind-body nature of yoga. I focus a lot on talking to the students to
slowly bring them to the realization about what yoga is all about. If a student really understands the true mind-body and
holistic nature of yoga, I consider myself amply rewarded. If you have any question or just want to send me a message
